Senior Associate
Dusty is an experienced employment lawyer who has recently re-joined the team at Aitken Legal. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology and was admitted to practice in 2014. Dusty began her legal career as a paralegal and lawyer in the employment law practice of Minter Ellison Lawyers, a top-tier national law firm in Brisbane, before relocating to the Sunshine Coast in 2018.
Since then, Dusty has honed her expertise in employment law across a variety of industries, working both as an employment lawyer with Aitken Legal and subsequently as an employee and industrial relations specialist within the People & Culture teams of medium and large businesses. This unique combination of legal and practical experience allows Dusty to provide her clients with technical, strategic and pragmatic legal advice, as she understands both the legal background and requirements as well as the commercial and operational challenges facing businesses.
Dusty’s practice covers all areas of employment law including employment contracts, workplace policies, employee entitlements, performance management, misconduct and disciplinary processes, termination of employment and employee claims such as unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination and bullying claims and much more. Dusty has extensive experience in workplace complaints and investigations and excels in helping clients to navigate, simplify and implement their legislative, Award and enterprise agreement obligations to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Currently, Dusty is completing a Master of Employment and Labour Relations Law at the University of Melbourne, with just one subject remaining to finish her degree.
