Our Community

Community involvement and giving back to our community is important to us and we are proactive in supporting local initiatives.  We are proactive about helping our community and believe that every contribution, no matter how small, can have a positive effect and make a difference to someone’s life or lives. To be able to help with that, means a lot to all in our team.

Since 2009, Aitken Legal has provided pro bono employment law advice to the Sunshine Coast Health Foundation (Wishlist) and continues to do so.

Our lawyers provide free employment law training seminars/webinars bimonthly to local businesses to help employers meet workplace obligations.

We regularly run fundraising events to support local charities. These events have included:

The Sunshine Coast Corporate Charity Golf Challenge – this was run as part of MixFM’s Give Me 5 for Kids annual campaign with all funds raised going to Wishlist. Over the 10 years that we held this event, Aitken Legal raised nearly $400,000 net of costs for Wishlist.

The Giggle Ball – this is a comedy charity ball that we hold approximately every 2 years. We choose a different local charity for each Giggle Ball and always ensure that the money raised remains on the Sunshine Coast. Over the years, Aitken Legal has raised more than $150,000 net of costs from this event and the beneficiaries have included Bloomhill Cancer Care, Sunshine Butterflies and the local branches of Montrose Access and Camp Quality. Keep an eye out for our next Giggle Ball!

KidsFORKids concert – we sponsored and helped organise the KidsFORKids charity concert which was an event organised by kids for other kids in need. The concert was held at The Shed at Aussie World and included exclusive access to Aussie World prior to the concert. During the concert, three local bands performed who were all under 18 years of age. This event raised $20,000 net of costs for two local teenagers living with cancer.

On a smaller scale, we often get behind local causes including:

Helping Youturn buy 2 kayaks which encourages the children to get up early, go fishing and enjoy the tranquility of the water. We are thrilled at the positive difference our contribution has made.
