Community involvement and giving back to our community is important to us and we are proactive in supporting local initiatives.  We are proactive about helping our community and believe that every contribution, no matter how small, can have a positive effect and make a difference to someone’s life or lives. To be able to help with that, means a lot to all in our team.

Since 2009, Aitken Legal has provided pro bono employment law advice to the Sunshine Coast Health Foundation (Wishlist) and continues to do so.

Our lawyers provide free employment law training seminars/webinars bimonthly to local businesses to help employers meet workplace obligations.

We regularly run fundraising events to support local charities.  Since 2026, we are proud to have raised over $1million for our community.

Events have included:

The Sunshine Coast Corporate Charity Golf Challenge – brings together the Sunshine Coast business community for a premium golf day. Originally held as part of MixFM’s annual Give Me 5 for Kids campaign, the event supported Wishlist, a local hospital charity helping critically ill children and adults . Across the 11 events we held, Aitken Legal raised nearly $450,000 net of costs for Wishlist. The Golf Challenge has continued to evolve, while maintaining its focus on supporting organisations that make a difference in our local community. In 2025, the event supported SunnyKids, raising $109,531 to assist its work supporting vulnerable children and families across the Sunshine Coast and the charity’s Transitional Housing Project. In 2026, we were proud to support Lookout 07, donating $95,000 to help further its work for our young people in the community.
The Giggle Ball – this is a comedy charity ball that we hold approximately every 2 years. We choose a different local charity for each Giggle Ball and always ensure that the money raised remains on the Sunshine Coast. Most recently, the Giggle Ball raised $141k for endED, a charity supporting people (and their families) with eating disorders. Over the years, Aitken Legal has raised more than $290k net of costs from this event and other beneficiaries have included Bloomhill Cancer Care, Sunshine Butterflies and the local branches of Montrose Access and Camp Quality. Keep an eye out for our next Giggle Ball!
KidsFORKids concert – we sponsored and helped organise the KidsFORKids charity concert which was an event organised by kids for other kids in need. The concert was held at The Shed at Aussie World and included exclusive access to Aussie World prior to the concert. During the concert, three local bands performed who were all under 18 years of age. This event raised $20,000 net of costs for two local teenagers living with cancer.
Helping Youturn buy 2 kayaks which encourages the children to get up early, go fishing and enjoy the tranquility of the water. We are thrilled at the positive difference our contribution has made.
haircut
Assisting a local hairdresser who was wanting to break the World Record for the number of haircuts she could do in 24 hours whilst raising money for MixFM’s Give Me 5 for Kids. Aitken Legal sponsored the haircuts for any homeless people on the Sunshine Coast who wanted their hair cut.
trampoline
During COVID-19, Youturn needed a trampoline for their Crisis Accommodation house for young people on the Sunshine Coast and Aitken Legal donated the money for them to purchase a suitable trampoline.
Sponsoring a convoy of cars in the Brats Bash for Variety Club and Lisa Aitken and her family took part in this for 3 years.
Sponsoring and entering a team in the Wishlist Row 4 Cancer.
Helping the Compass Institute purchase a new bus by sponsoring a seat on the bus to transport young people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Adding Christmas cheer to some of Youturn’s Accommodation Houses, Aitken Legal sponsored a couple of basketball hoops to help facilitate fun activities at a number of homes.
